UK Turbine Blade OEM - Major Matsuura Investment

Against fierce competition, Matsuura have secured a major order to supply machining centre's to a leading UK blade manufacturer & refurbishment company.

Incorporationg 2 Matsuura MC-1500VX vertical machining centre's, this investment provides the capability & capacity to produce blades over 1,000mm long with zero hand finishing operations required.

The production of such long blades from a range of heat resistant Super Alloys provided some significant challenges for Matsuura, not least in the tendency for the blades to "unwind" during the machining process, leading to a less than satisfactory surface finish & obviously affecting the final geometry of the blade. Part ofd the Matsuura solution to this was to incorporate a twin driven rotary 4th axis to ensure that both the root & the tip are supported & driven in their correct attitudes in the machining process.

Taken on as a Full Turnkey, Matsuura have provided a cost effective, high quality solution & the order included full training for the machine operators & a comprehensive Scheduled Maintenance Aggrement.
